What Size Roll-Off Dumpster Do You Need?
At All Things Waste, we know that choosing the right size dumpster for your next project can be a difficult task if you’ve never rented a roll-off container before. Choosing the right size dumpster can make or break your project, whether you’re renovating your kitchen or finally getting around to ridding your basement of all your old, dusty junk.
We provide roll-off dumpster containers in multiple sizes. These roll-off sizes range from our smallest 10-yard container to our extra-large, heavy-duty 40-yard dumpsters. Regardless of what type of project you’re going to be working on, our dumpsters are able to hold most types of trash and debris to accommodate your needs.
Before renting a dumpster, here’s what you need to know about the different sizes we offer, along with what size roll-off dumpster you actually need for your project. And if you still have questions, you can always reach us at 844-47-WASTE!
Container Sizes (For Your Best Dumpster Pricing!)
10-YARD ROLL-OFF DUMPSTER
Because our 10-yard dumpster is the smallest size container we offer, it’s typically used for smaller-scale jobs like attic clean outs, shed clean outs, basement decluttering, garage clean outs, small kitchen and bathroom renovations, remodeling, repairs, and home improvements. These are just a few of the main uses of a 10-yard container. Our 10-yards also hold up to 15 shingle squares (1 shingle square covers roughly 100 square feet, and 3 bundles of shingles equal 1 square); removal of concrete, brick, cinder block, asphalt, and dirt; and disposal of up to 250 square feet of decking material.
Not all waste removal containers need to be big since not every job requires exceptionally large dumpsters to remove junk and other debris. The 10-yard dumpster is often the least expensive. However, it may not often the best dollar-for-dollar value for your upcoming project. Opting for a dumpster too small for the job will require extra services in the long run, so choosing the right size container for your job is important.
Approximate size: 8 ft. x 10 ft. x 3.5 ft.
12-YARD ROLL-OFF DUMPSTER
Our 12-yard dumpster is also used for smaller-scale jobs, such as attic clean outs, shed clean outs, basement decluttering, garage clean outs, small kitchen and bathroom renovations, remodeling, repairs, and home improvements. Our 12-yard container also allows for disposal of up to 15 shingle squares (1 shingle square covers roughly 100 square feet, and 3 bundles of shingles equals 1 square), removal of concrete, brick, cinder block, asphalt, and dirt. This container also holds up to 250 square feet of decking material.
A slightly larger dumpster, such as our 12-yard roll-off container, may be just the ticket since a few more unwanted items can be easily tossed in and hauled away. If so, we recommend this size container for getting the job done well and fast!
Approximate size: 8 ft. x 12.5 ft. x 4 ft.
15-YARD ROLL-OFF DUMPSTER
Our 15-yard roll off dumpster allows for disposing of approximately 300 square feet of decking material and 2,000 square feet of single-layer shingles. This 15-yard container provides about 50 additional square feet of decking material and 500 square feet more single-layer shingle disposal capacity than the 10-yard and 12-yard roll-off dumpster sizes.
Still on the smaller side of containers, the 15-yard dumpster can handle most disposal jobs for the residential homeowner without the hassle of a 20’+ long container taking up residence on your property. Depending on your project’s size, this container size might be the perfect solution, especially if space is a big consideration.
Approximate Size: 8 ft. x 14 ft. x 4 ft.
20-YARD ROLL-OFF DUMPSTER
Our 20-yard dumpster assists in the disposal of debris for larger-scale jobs. Although often used by contractors, the 20-yard roll-off container is suitable for large attic clean outs, large shed clean outs, large basement clean outs, and large garage clean outs. Large kitchen and bathroom renovations, remodeling, repairs, and home improvements are also common uses for the 20-yard dumpster. Our 20-yard containers also can handle the disposal of approximately 400 square feet of decking material and nearly 3,000 square feet of single-layer shingles (or 30 single-layered shingle squares), and removal of large amounts of construction and demolition material. The 20-yard is commonly used for heavier types of waste disposal, such as concrete, brick, cinder block, asphalt, and dirt.
The 20-yard is a perfect all-around dumpster. Its low, 4′ side walls allow for easy disposal, and its additional length provides exceptionally more space than the 10, 12, and 15-yard containers. Because of the extra length, more preparation should be given regarding its placement before your project starts. However, it provides for considerable amounts of extra space when cleaning all unwanted trash and debris from your property.
Approximate size: 8 ft. x 22 ft. x 4 ft.
30-YARD ROLL-OFF DUMPSTER
Our 30-yard roll-off container is massive and helps dispose of very large amounts of construction and demolition debris. These projects include higher-end, large commercial or industrial projects, such as home renovations, repairs, improvements, and additions, new home builds, large landscape projects, disposal of up to 500+ square feet of decking material and 4,000 square feet of single-layer shingles (or 45 single-layer shingle squares). Bottom line: if you’ve got a large project, you’ll probably want this size container. This container also often comes with a longer rental period, usually 2 weeks to 1 month, unlike the 10-yard, 12-yard, and 15-yard roll off dumpster sizes.
It’s hard to go wrong with this size, even if it’s a bit large for most non-construction uses. And, even if you’re not swinging a hammer, it’s the perfect size bin to share with your neighbor or for transforming your property by finally getting rid of all your unused or unwanted junk once and for all!
Approximate size: 8 ft. x 22 ft. x 5.5 ft.
40-YARD ROLL-OFF DUMPSTER
Our 40-yard roll off dumpster is much like the 30-yard. It can be used for large renovation and remodeling projects, roof tear-offs and roof replacements, siding disposal, and much more. When the 40-yard dumpster isn’t being used for large construction and demolition jobs or complicate industrial projects, the 40-yard open top container provides an alternative route to recycling leftover site materials that are usually lighter weight, such as cardboard, paper, and aluminum, especially if the roll off dumpster is conveniently placed at a loading dock.
If you’re wanting a container this large, you’ve got a lot of junk to remove. And it’s been far to long since you’ve done any purging, so you’re probably in need of a cure-all solution. A dumpster with 40 cubic yard’s worth of holding capacity will most certainly do the job.
Approx. Size: 8 ft. x 22 ft. x 8 ft.
What’s the actual cost of a roll-off container?
The cost of any container you rent will vary depending on multiple factors. These factors include how much debris you have, what type of debris you’re looking to dispose of, your location, and how long you’re looking to keep your dumpster on site.
